I am currently staying at Balcon la Mar and am very happy with my choice of base for exploring Valencia for the week. I was initially a little bit nervous about booking this apartment as there were no reviews (one reason why I'm now writing one) - however my concerns were eased when Pilar (the owner/ agent) replied to me immediately when I took the plunge and booked, answering all of my questions thoroughly (in perfect English).
I arrived two days ago and Pilar kindly met me to introduce me to the area and apartment. She also gave me easy directions to the metro line stop - which goes into the centre and other areas of Valencia, as well as the local Supermarket, which is a 5/10 min walk. The apartment itself is light, spacious, clean and tidy.
The best thing, apart from the view to towards the sea, is the amazing fresh sea breeze that comes through the lounge windows and tunnels through the apartment - it is the best thing! No need for Air Con - even though the apartment has one in the lounge and the Master bedroom. The other thing I was a bit unsure about was the shower, having seen that there wasn't a separate shower unit in the photos... fear not - the shower is excellent, powerful and hot and the bath tub more than comfortable to stand in!
The location is very good, close to the beach (it's only a few mins walk to the beach, but I would say 10 mins to get to the bars and restaurants at the other end of Malvarrosa) - I will be doing some more exploring in the coming days and working out how the Metro line works - which is just around the corner from the apartment.
Just one more note on how helpful Pilar has been - she has answered all of my emails (even whilst I've been here asking the odd question) immediately and also I had a small issue with the Internet on my first day, and once again she answered me promptly and sent the owner around to fix straight away. Pilar has also offered to show me a couple of other apartments that she operates for the purpose of me visiting with family next year.. so I look forward to having a guided tour of some of Valencia in the coming days. :)
