Great place from which to explore Valencia. Casa de Angeles is located in a quiet street on the outskirts of the old town, but only five minutes walk to the main tourist area of Plaza de la Virgen near the cathedral where you'll find plenty of restaurants, and another five minutes walk after that to the lively area of El Carmen full of bars and nightlife. In the opposite direction, you're only a few minutes walk to the Turia Gardens, the 9 kilometre old riverbed which has been converted into a park. I'd recommend hiring some bikes and cycling along the park, which will take you to the zoo at one end, and the City of Arts and Sciences at the other. A little further on, and you can cycle down to the beach, which was surprisingly uncrowded when we went at the end of May. The apartment is located on the first floor, but there is a lift for those who need it. The lounge is large with an equally large sofa, and large TV to go along with it, and all nicely furnished. The bedrooms, however, are much smaller by comparison, but there is plenty of storage space. The kitchen is reasonably well equipped including a dishwasher, although the oven is a portable one, smaller than the microwave, but would be fine for cooking a small pizza. The WiFi worked well, although setting up the connection was a bit fiddly, but there are instructions available. Pilar, the apartment manager, was very helpful both before and during the visit. She organised cycle hire for us, as well as a boat trip on the lake at La Albufera national park to see the sunset, followed by dinner at a local restaurant. I expected it to be rather touristy, but it was far from it. It was a memorable evening, and Susana and Ricardo who took us were delightful company. Definitely recommended. Valencia is a great place, and Casa de Angeles is a lovely apartment from which to explore it. Can't wait until our next visit.
